Congratulations! The following WHS narrative films have advanced to the Semi-Final round of the 2nd Annual UIL Film Festival:

The Man Who Saw The Light by Cameron Fisher & Travis Daves!

Over 650 films were submitted to the festival. 150 films (3 categories, 2 divisions) advanced to the Semi-Finals. We are 1 of only 5 schools with ALL THREE of our submissions up for the next round of judging. Awesome!


WESTLAKE FILM @ SXSW

We are proud to announce that TWO student films were selected for the prestigious, highly competitive SXSW Texas High School Shorts Program. Submissions are judged by a panel of independent filmmakers and industry figures. All high school finalist films will screen as part of the regular SXSW Film Festival. Congratulations to Gretchen Lynch & Cameron Fisher.

WESTLAKE FILM @ AFF

Reality TV, by Travis Daves will screen at the Austin Film Festival. Cameron Fisher will participate in the annual Pitch Competition -- a rare opportunity to get feedback and coaching from industry professionals.  15 Advanced Film Production students attended the 21st Annual Austin Film Festival & Conference on scholarshop.  Congratulations!


FALL FILM FEST RUN

Congratulations to Writer/Director Gretchen Lynch and crew. Two films from this talented Senior production team will play in Fall film festivals. Evelyn Parker, shot at Eanes Elementary, screens in the Urban Media Makers Film Festival in Atlanta, and The Mask We Call A Smile, screens at the All American High School Film Festival in New York. Gretchen will travel to represent the film and participate in panels and screenings with industry professionals. 


NO BULL WINNERS

Congratulations Sarah Holland, Best PSA Award of the Year & Patrick Byrd for Best Directing!! The NO BULL Challenge is a global video contest that spreads awareness about anti-bullying.  Winners flew to Los Angeles to attend the star-studded NO BULL Teen Video Awards show, an Oscar's meets Grammy's event.
